Art interpretation of Czech history in the historical prose by Alois Jirásek

The thesis deals with the issues of literary-historical situation of works by Alois Jirásek in the Czech tradition of the historical novel and characteristic of literary representation of history by the writer. The thing is that after the creation of Czechoslovakia in 1918 Jirásek became the official symbol of the literature of the new state, and younger authors followed him ideologically, thematically, and after the formal construction of works. Jirásek's authority didn't weaken in the second half of the 20th century, when his method of literary interpretation of Czech history was ideologically misused. On the basis of literary analysis of two historical novels (Proti všem and Temno), the author of thesis describes Jirásek's narrative style and the means of expression that gives the writer the possibility to reach the art effectiveness of his novels.
